public transport has you covered

What if I told you that you could visit the most iconic, remote, secret swim spots without a car?

That you could hop on a train from London, Birmingham, Manchester or Brussels (it's happened before ok!), then a few hours later, be enjoying a home cooked meal from Chef Mel and either sharing a dorm with like minded solo travellers OR enjoying an unrivalled view of William the Conqueror's finest castle from your luxury private bedroom?

a brief reminder why a dorset adventure with us is a must -

Our Dorset swim retreats involve sauna (oh yes!) on the beach, intro to cold water workshops, swims to Old Harry Rocks, Durdle Door, around Victorian Piers and of course walks into nature.

Celebrating Great British nature is at the centre of everything we do at TWSCo, and Dorset is Mecca.

Not only is Studland the only place in the UK where you can see all 6 British reptiles, but the bay is also home to the elusive Short Snouted and Long Snouted Spiny Seahorse (woah, seahorses!). They love the seagrass meadows beneath the waves, it's an ecological Disneyland down there, and we'll give you the guided tour!

When we cross the road from Sandyholme, we enter the UK's only Super National Nature Reserve. Springwatch fans, you'll need your inhaler! The reserve is also home to a breeding pair of White Tailer Sea Eagles, with a wingspan of 8 foot, you'll want to watch your shorter friends don't get 'Jurassic Parked' (joke, it's a joke alright!?). The reserve is also home to a breeding pair of Osprey's, the only pair on the south coast for 200 years.

This is just a start, we aren't even beginning to talk about Enid Blyton's Kerrin Island, Kerrin Castle, the birth of the Scout's, John Lewis' Castle or the story of Sika Deer entering the UK. You'll have to visit us for that.

We bloody love Dorset, the Isle of Purbeck is The Isle of Colour and Light, with the UK's longest life expectancy, most sunshine hours and least rainfall.

Anyway, I get a little carried away... you wanted to come to Dorset by public transport... well it's pretty simple really.

To visit Sandyhome in Studland, get the train to Bournemouth, then get the 50 bus to Swanage. Here's the good part; the bus is open top, and takes in views of Sandbanks (the richest real estate in Europe), which is great for people watching and checking out how the other half live! This bus takes the ferry to Studland, in a 4 minute crossing, you leave the madness of Bournemouth behind and enter a rural wonderland, passing through heaths and dunes before arriving minutes later at the driveway of Sandyholme in Studland. All for £2 (really, really!).

Here's the trick, don't walk around the back of the house, that's a 5 minute walk. Literally turn around and the blue roof and turreted peaks of Sandyholme is right behind you. Voila!

prefer luxury?

If it is luxury you seek, TWSCo now offer a Deluxe Dorset Retreat, based on feedback we've booked Kingston Country Courtyard, this 4 star hotel accommodation overlooks Corfe Castle. Your beautifully appointed room will suit every need and again, can't be reached by public transport.

This time you can catch the train to Poole, before hopping on the 40 bus to Swanage. Although it's not open too, neither does it take a ferry, but it does take in some of Dorset's finest towns and villages. Before you hop off at Kingston Country Courtyard in Kingston (yes, there's a Kingston in Dorset), but this one has about 30 houses and no traffic lights!).
