ITINERARY (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

Day 1 - Welcome to Loch Linnhe

Arrive at Roam West at 1pm and settle into your Highland home for the next three nights.

Once everyone has arrived, we'll get straight out into the landscape with our first Highland swim, a chance to breathe in that mountain air, get into the water and properly begin the adventure.

Tonight we'll stay at Roam West for dinner in their award-winning restaurant.

Enjoy a delicious two-course dinner, with good food, great company and a proper Scottish welcome.

Then we'll head back towards the loch for a spectacular sunset swim.

There's something pretty special about swimming in a Highland loch as the light fades over the mountains.

Then it's back to the lodge for a relaxed evening overlooking Loch Linnhe.

Day 2 - Waterfalls, Lochs & Highland Adventure

🌅 Sunrise swim

Early risers are rewarded.

We'll start the day with a sunrise dip in Loch Linnhe, watching the Highlands wake up around us.

Then it's back to Roam West for breakfast.

Choose between a continental breakfast or a cooked Scottish breakfast, fuel up and get ready for a day exploring the Highlands.

💦 Chasing waterfalls

Today we're heading out into the Highlands in search of one of Scotland's spectacular waterfalls.

We'll take a scenic route through the mountains, stopping along the way for our first Highland cake break and a packed lunch.

Expect forests, mountains, lochs and some seriously beautiful scenery.

And, of course, there'll be opportunities for another dip along the way if conditions allow.

🥾 Highland walk

After our waterfall adventure, we'll head back towards Roam West before heading out again for a beautiful Highland walk.

This is your chance to stretch the legs, explore the landscape and experience the Highlands on foot.

🍽️ Scottish night out

Tonight we'll leave Roam West behind and head out to experience some proper local Scottish hospitality.

We'll recommend a local restaurant or traditional Highland pub where you can enjoy an evening of great food, local character and Scottish atmosphere.

Dinner tonight is not included, giving you the freedom to choose where and what you'd like to eat.

We'll help arrange the evening and point you towards some of our favourite local spots.

And naturally…

🍰 There'll be cake.

Day 3 - The Harry Potter Bridge & a Big Highland Swim

Today we're heading further into the Highlands for our biggest adventure of the retreat.

🚂 The Harry Potter Bridge

We'll travel through some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery to visit the famous railway viaduct made famous around the world by the Harry Potter films.

The Glenfinnan Viaduct is an incredible piece of Scottish railway history, surrounded by dramatic Highland scenery.

And then we'll find somewhere equally magical to get in the water.

🏊 A Highland swim

Today we'll head to a beautiful local loch for a proper Highland swim.

You'll have options depending on how you're feeling and the conditions:

A quick dip

For those who simply want to experience swimming in a Highland loch.

A longer swim

Take your time and enjoy the scenery from the water.

Around 2km

For those looking for a bigger challenge, we'll offer a longer swim of approximately 2km.

Whatever you choose, the emphasis is on enjoying the experience rather than racing.

🍰 Highland cake stop

Because no Wild Swimming Co adventure is complete without cake.

We'll stop somewhere scenic for lunch and our daily cake fix before continuing our Highland adventure.

🏔️ A full day in the Highlands

This is a full-day excursion, giving us time to explore, swim, stop for photographs and simply enjoy being surrounded by some of Scotland's most spectacular landscapes.

We'll return to Roam West in the evening.

🍽️ Final dinner together

Tonight we'll come together for our final evening at Roam West and enjoy another two-course dinner in their award-winning restaurant.

Good food, good company and plenty of stories from three days of Highland adventures.

Day 4 - Breakfast & One Last Adventure

We'll start our final morning with breakfast at Roam West.

Then there's time for one last Scottish adventure.

We'll head out to discover another spectacular Highland waterfall, taking in the scenery and squeezing in one final opportunity to get outside — and, conditions permitting, one final dip.

🍰 One last slice of cake

Because obviously.

We'll then return to Roam West, collect our things and say our goodbyes.

👋 Goodbye at 1pm

Four days of swimming, walking, waterfalls, mountains, cake and Scottish adventure come to an end.

You'll leave with tired legs, plenty of stories and hopefully a serious desire to come back to the Highlands.

RETREAT FAQ

Is there a wetsuit policy?

We’ll always recommend a wetsuit, they will keep you warmer for longer and you’ll be more buoyant. We’ll be swimming in some iconic locations, wearing a wetsuit may mean that you can enjoy the swim for a little longer than you are used to. However we understand that it’s not for everyone, therefore wetsuits are always optional.

Is there a tow float policy?

When we swim on a journey, we do require all swimmers to wear tow floats. However they are also compulsory for dips in depth. This helps us manage the group and be super visible which in turn improves safety.

How do you manage safety?

All of our Guides are beach lifeguards and first aiders, all of our swim locations are carefully reccied, risk assessed and led by guides who are experienced in that location.

Are there any ability requirements?

Our swim retreats are ideally suited for complete beginners who want to try wild swimming, they are also carefully planned so as improvers and intermediate swimmers are challenged. So, come along for a float around, or complete along and swim up to 2km per day. We’ll have at least one swim coach on each of our trips.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to spend hundreds on specialist kit to come on a Wild Swimming Retreat, but you will need a tow float (which you can buy when you’re here!), a towel or robe and footwear that you can wear in the water. We can talk through all the posh bits and pieces on the market when you’re with us.

Do you track distances, times and temperatures?

We try not to get too hung up on times, distances and temperatures. We are just having a wonderful time in iconic places with great people. However if improving is your plan, we can help you swim up to 2km per day. We’ll also have a swim coach on every trip.
