Private Dorset Wild Swimming Escape

3 days of wild swimming, sauna, coastal adventures and beautiful Dorset scenery

Join us for a private three-day wild swimming escape on the Jurassic Coast, staying exclusively at 7 bedroom Sandyholme House in Studland, our much-loved base for wild swimming retreats.

This is a relaxed, adventure-filled weekend designed around some of Dorset’s most spectacular swimming locations, with guided swims, sauna sessions, coastal walks and plenty of time to enjoy the company of your group.

Your weekend begins with a welcome and safety briefing before heading to Studland for a 90-minute sauna and swim, with optional swim coaching available. After settling into the house, we'll head out for dinner at a local pub.

The following morning starts with an early, unsupervised sunrise swim in Studland Bay, before breakfast and a trip to our private swimming lake near Corfe Castle. Here, you'll enjoy another 90-minute sauna and swim, fully guided and supervised.

The afternoon takes us into the Dorset countryside, with a choice of a beautiful nature walk or a guided route towards Old Harry Rocks. As the day draws to a close, we'll head to Bramble Bush Bay for a sunset dip before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

On the final morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at Sandyholme before heading to Dancing Ledge for an expert guide-led coastal adventure. We'll make our way down to the famous tidal pool and, if conditions are flat and calm, explore some of the spectacular sea caves in the area.

It's a fitting finale to a weekend of wild swimming, adventure and exploration — before we head back to Sandyholme for departures around 2–3pm.

  • Breakfast each morning

  • Three guided/supervised swim experiences

Evening meals and lunches are not included, giving your group the flexibility to choose where you'd like to eat, but we think we know the best spots!

Your base: Sandyholme House

Sandyholme is a beautiful seven-bedroom house on Beach Road in Studland, with exclusive use for your group, a large garden, marquee and outdoor dining area.

The accommodation is intentionally simple and comfortable, with single and bunk-style beds rather than hotel-style rooms. What it lacks in luxury, it makes up for with its fantastic location, private use and relaxed retreat atmosphere.

It's a house we've used regularly for our retreats, and it's a brilliant base for exploring the Jurassic Coast.

RETREAT FAQ

Is there a wetsuit policy?

We’ll always recommend a wetsuit, they will keep you warmer for longer and you’ll be more buoyant. We’ll be swimming in some iconic locations, wearing a wetsuit may mean that you can enjoy the swim for a little longer than you are used to. However we understand that it’s not for everyone, therefore wetsuits are always optional.

Is there a tow float policy?

When we swim on a journey, we do require all swimmers to wear tow floats. However they are also compulsory for dips in depth. This helps us manage the group and be super visible which in turn improves safety.

How do you manage safety?

All of our Guides are beach lifeguards and first aiders, all of our swim locations are carefully reccied, risk assessed and led by guides who are experienced in that location.

Are there any ability requirements?

Our swim retreats are ideally suited for complete beginners who want to try wild swimming, they are also carefully planned so as improvers and intermediate swimmers are challenged. So, come along for a float around, or complete along and swim up to 2km per day. We’ll have at least one swim coach on each of our trips.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to spend hundreds on specialist kit to come on a Wild Swimming Retreat, but you will need a tow float (which you can buy when you’re here!), a towel or robe and footwear that you can wear in the water. We can talk through all the posh bits and pieces on the market when you’re with us.

Do you track distances, times and temperatures?

We try not to get too hung up on times, distances and temperatures. We are just having a wonderful time in iconic places with great people. However if improving is your plan, we can help you swim up to 2km per day. We’ll also have a swim coach on every trip.
