FIRE & ICE 🔥❄️
A magical winter night swim on the Dorset coast
There’s something pretty special about swimming in the sea in the depths of winter.
Now add a roaring fire on the beach, the glow of lights across the water, a slice of famous Dorset cake and good company… and you have Fire & Ice.
Join us for a two-hour winter evening on a beautiful beach close to Swanage, where we’ll embrace the cold, learn how to enjoy it safely, and experience the magic of a night-time dip.
Throughout the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to take short, supervised cold-water dips, returning to the warmth of the fire between swims. We’ll create a relaxed, sociable atmosphere where you can spend as much time around the fire as you do in the water.
We’ll also share some of our favourite cold-water knowledge, including:
-
How your body responds to cold-water immersion
-
Habituation — and how to become more comfortable in cold water
-
Understanding the risks of winter swimming
-
How to stay safe at the beach in winter
-
Knowing when to swim, when to get out, and when to give it a miss
-
Practical tips for making your winter swims safer and more enjoyable
And because no Wild Swimming Co. experience is complete without something delicious, there’ll be famous Dorset cake from our famous kitchen waiting for you by the fire.
As darkness falls, we’ll light up your tow floats to create a truly magical setting for your evening swim. Think cold sea, warm fire, twinkling lights, salty hair, steaming cups and brilliant company.
FIRE & ICE
Two hours of winter swimming, warmth, cake and good company.
This is an evening for swimmers who already feel comfortable in the water and want to experience the sea in a completely different way.
Please note: all swimmers are required to wear a tow float during their dips. Dips will be short, supervised and adapted to the conditions on the night. The exact beach location may change depending on weather and sea conditions.
