 North Wales

This all-inclusive retreat will run from 1pm Friday to 2.30pm Sunday at an exclusively hired Watkin Bunkhouse, with a back door on to the Watkin Path, nestled at the bottom of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)

We've partnered with incredible local, female mountain leaders to uncover Eryri’s (Snowdonia’s) best-kept secrets for inspiring walks and swims in rivers, pools, waterfalls, and lakes.

On day 2 and 3 we'll do the best summit available to us, given the weather and each summit will be rewarded with a refreshing swim on the way down.

And yes, if the weather allows we will most likely walk to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

We meet at Watkin Bunkhouse at 1pm, after a short safety briefing we'll walk 20 minutes up The Watkin Path to the infamous Watkin Falls. We'll be dipping in the bluest waterfalls, checking out features and flows , safe in the knowledge that our experience guides/ lifeguards are on hand to support you.

Be sure to bring your hot drinks flasks fully charged to accompany homemade cake before we head back to the accommodation for rooming.

Dinner with table wine will be followed by our famous 'Tame the Flows' talk in the lounge.

Day 2: On top of the world

Early birds will be wowed by an outstanding sunrise dip with warm croissants.

A hearty, healthy breakfast will be followed by a guided walk walk to the top of Yr Wyddfa (weather dependant), England & Wales' tallest mountain stands at over 3000ft. This is this ultimate hiking challenge in the UK. For those who may find this too challenging we'll have an alternative lowland walk. Every summit comes with a cool dip, our kick-ass female guides will highlight the best swim on the descent.

In the afternoon, enjoy an sunset dip at Llyn Gwynant, with a swim to Elephant Rock for the hardier souls.

Day 3: A spell bounding end

Pancakes for breakfast will be followed by a short drive out to another of Eryri's fabulous mountains, this walk will be selected based on the weather, but will be in our Local guide's top 5 peaks.

A dip on the way down, will be followed by more homemade cake before we say goodbye.

RETREAT FAQ

Is there a wetsuit policy?

We’ll always recommend a wetsuit, they will keep you warmer for longer and you’ll be more buoyant. We’ll be swimming in some iconic locations, wearing a wetsuit may mean that you can enjoy the swim for a little longer than you are used to. However we understand that it’s not for everyone, therefore wetsuits are always optional.

Is there a tow float policy?

When we swim on a journey, we do require all swimmers to wear tow floats. However they are also compulsory for dips in depth. This helps us manage the group and be super visible which in turn improves safety.

How do you manage safety?

All of our Guides are beach lifeguards and first aiders, all of our swim locations are carefully reccied, risk assessed and led by guides who are experienced in that location.

Are there any ability requirements?

Our swim retreats are ideally suited for complete beginners who want to try wild swimming, they are also carefully planned so as improvers and intermediate swimmers are challenged. So, come along for a float around, or complete along and swim up to 2km per day. We’ll have at least one swim coach on each of our trips.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to spend hundreds on specialist kit to come on a Wild Swimming Retreat, but you will need a tow float (which you can buy when you’re here!), a towel or robe and footwear that you can wear in the water. We can talk through all the posh bits and pieces on the market when you’re with us.

Do you track distances, times and temperatures?

We try not to get too hung up on times, distances and temperatures. We are just having a wonderful time in iconic places with great people. However if improving is your plan, we can help you swim up to 2km per day. We’ll also have a swim coach on every trip.
