The Dorset Wild Camp

Studland, Dorset

Join us for The Dorset Camp Out – a weekend of wild swimming, adventure, and connection on our own private campsite in the heart of the Dorset countryside.

Hidden behind secure gates on the beautiful Rempstone Estate in Studland, our woodland campsite offers everything you need for a comfortable escape into nature. Enjoy flushing toilets, hot showers, a private lake, and spacious pre-pitched tents complete with real beds, so you can focus on relaxing rather than setting up camp.

Throughout the weekend, you'll have access to our welcoming communal marquee, stocked with tea, coffee, comfortable seating, and charging points for your essential devices (if you can bear to switch them on).

From our unique base, we'll explore some of Dorset's most spectacular swimming locations. Discover hidden coves, vast sea caves, iconic coastal landmarks, beautiful sandy beaches, and an abundance of wildlife, all while enjoying delicious food and great company.

This retreat is perfect for your first open-water adventures of the year. With optional shorter swims, gentle dips, and absolutely no pressure to stay in the water longer than feels comfortable, it's designed to build confidence as well as create unforgettable memories.

Whether you're an experienced swimmer looking to explore new waters or you're just beginning your wild swimming journey, The Dorset Camp Out offers the perfect blend of adventure, wellbeing, and community.

Spend your days swimming, walking, laughing, and reconnecting with nature. End your evenings around camp with good food, new friends, and stories from the day's adventures before falling asleep to the sounds of the woods.

Come and experience Dorset at its wild and wonderful best.

ITINERARY (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

Day 1: Welcome to Our Wild Camp

Arrive at our beautiful private campsite from 1:00 PM, where a warm drink and a slice of homemade cake will be waiting to welcome you.

Once you've settled in and we've completed our safety briefing, we'll head straight over to our private lake for our first adventure. With an option to get some top tips from our swim coaches or enjoy a walk through cold water immersion and coping strategies.

Afterwards, it's time to slow the pace and unwind in our privately hired camp site before a campsite dinner together.

As evening approaches, we'll walk out to a Studland beach for a sunset dip, completing our day of resetting in nature.

Day 2: Dive into Dorset's Beauty

Sunrise Dip
For the early risers, the day begins with a refreshing sunrise swim as the first light of dawn spreads across the sea and the cliffs around Studland Bay glow in the morning sun.

Hearty Breakfast
After your swim, return to a nourishing breakfast designed to fuel a day of adventure and exploration.

Iconic Swim Adventure
Today's main event is an unforgettable swim at Dancing Ledge, explore the tidal pool, or visiting some of the best sea caves on this coast, eyes up for Puffins and Dolphins!

Afternoon Exploration (Optional)
For those keen to discover more of Dorsets wild side, join us for a guided walk through a stunning local nature reserve. Rich in Dorset folklore, fascinating history, and abundant wildlife, this gentle adventure offers a different perspective on the island. Along the way, we may stop at a traditional country pub to relax and soak up the atmosphere.

Evening Delights
As the day draws to a close, gather for another delicious homemade dinner prepared by Chef Mel around the fire.

Day 3: A spellbinding end

Morning Fuel
Begin your final day with a hearty breakfast, sharing stories from the weekend and fuelling up for one last adventure on Dorset's spectacular coastline.

Chesil Cove Swim
We'll then head out for a swim at the iconic Swanage Bay, one of Dorset's most celebrated coastal locations. Looking west across the water, you'll feel as though you could almost reach the Isle of Wight. This dramatic stretch of coastline has provided the backdrop for some of the UK's most memorable cinematic moments and offers a fitting finale to our wild swimming retreat.

Cake Finale
No Wild Retreat would be complete without one last helping of our legendary homemade cake. Enjoy a well-earned slice as we celebrate the swims, adventures, and connections made over the weekend.

Farewell
As the retreat draws to a close, we'll gather for our final goodbyes before departing at 1:00 PM. You'll leave with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and a little piece of Dorset's wild coastal magic to carry home with you.

RETREAT FAQ

Is there a wetsuit policy?

We’ll always recommend a wetsuit, they will keep you warmer for longer and you’ll be more buoyant. We’ll be swimming in some iconic locations, wearing a wetsuit may mean that you can enjoy the swim for a little longer than you are used to. However we understand that it’s not for everyone, therefore wetsuits are always optional.

Is there a tow float policy?

When we swim on a journey, we do require all swimmers to wear tow floats. However they are also compulsory for dips in depth. This helps us manage the group and be super visible which in turn improves safety.

How do you manage safety?

All of our Guides are beach lifeguards and first aiders, all of our swim locations are carefully reccied, risk assessed and led by guides who are experienced in that location.

Are there any ability requirements?

Our swim retreats are ideally suited for complete beginners who want to try wild swimming, they are also carefully planned so as improvers and intermediate swimmers are challenged. So, come along for a float around, or complete along and swim up to 2km per day. We’ll have at least one swim coach on each of our trips.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to spend hundreds on specialist kit to come on a Wild Swimming Retreat, but you will need a tow float (which you can buy when you’re here!), a towel or robe and footwear that you can wear in the water. We can talk through all the posh bits and pieces on the market when you’re with us.

Do you track distances, times and temperatures?

We try not to get too hung up on times, distances and temperatures. We are just having a wonderful time in iconic places with great people. However if improving is your plan, we can help you swim up to 2km per day. We’ll also have a swim coach on every trip.
