ITINERARY (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

Day 1: Dorset Awaits

From 1:00 PM – Arrive at our exclusive private accommodation just moments from the beach. We’ll welcome you with a hot drink and a slice of Mel’s homemade cake—the first of many.

Once you’ve settled in, we’ll head down to Studland Bay nature reserve, where you can choose between:

Swim Clinic with Coach Mel – A relaxed, supportive session designed to help you refine your stroke, build confidence, and feel stronger in open water.

Intro to Wild Swimming & Cold Water Immersion with Rich – Perfect for those newer to outdoor swimming or keen to explore safe cold water techniques.

Afterwards, enjoy time in our private Finnish-style beach sauna, alternating between gentle heat and refreshing dips—an incredible way to ease into the retreat and reset.

Evening: Gather back at the house for a wholesome, home-cooked meal by Chef Mel. We’ll round off the evening with a sunset swim at a secret spot—golden light, calm waters, and a moment to soak in your surroundings.

A gentle, grounding start to a weekend of wild swims and adventure.

Day 2: Immersive adventure & iconic swims

Morning: Begin the day with a peaceful sunrise swim, followed by warm croissants served beachside—a moment of calm before the adventure ahead.

Back at the house, a hearty breakfast will fuel you for one of our iconic destination swims—either to the towering chalk stacks of Old Harry Rocks or the dramatic arch of Durdle Door (route dependent on conditions).

After your swim, enjoy a powerboat return to shore—a thrilling and stylish end to an unforgettable experience in the water.

Midday: Indulge in Mel’s homemade cake (naturally), followed by warming soup and crusty bread—simple, soul-nourishing food to refuel and revive.

Afternoon: Opt in for an exploratory hike through the UK’s only Super National Nature Reserve, guided by our team. You’ll discover Dorset’s rich mythology, spot local wildlife, and if the mood takes us, pause at a charming countryside pub along the way.

Evening: Gather together for a home-cooked dinner at the house, made with care to round off your day.

Then settle in for our informal and ever-popular Tame the Tides session—an engaging talk led by Royal Lifesaving Society National Trainer Assessor, Rich, offering practical insights into currents, tides, and safe swimming techniques. Empowering and entertaining in equal measure.

An unforgettable day of swims, scenery, and shared stories

Day 3: An adventurers paradise

Morning: Fuel up with a hearty breakfast, setting the tone for a final day of discovery and connection with the wild.

We’ll then head out to one of Dorset’s most awe-inspiring swim locations, handpicked on the day to suit the weather and sea conditions:

Chapman’s Pool – Hike into this secluded natural amphitheatre for a peaceful and powerful swim surrounded by cliffs and calm.

Dancing Ledge – Venture to this dramatic stretch of coastline, home to a historic tidal pool and sweeping views.

Winspit Quarry – Swim or dip in a landscape carved by history, full of raw natural beauty and intrigue.

Midday: Take a final dip that captures the spirit of your retreat—wild, freeing, and unforgettable.

Back on dry land, gather for one last round of Mel’s homemade cake, marking the end of the journey in true Wild Swimming Co. style.

Farewell: By 1:00 PM, we say our goodbyes. You’ll leave with sandy toes, salt-kissed skin, and a soul full of memories—plus new friends made through shared adventure.

The perfect finale to a weekend of wild swims, warm food, and wilder stories.

RETREAT FAQ

Is there a wetsuit policy?

We’ll always recommend a wetsuit, they will keep you warmer for longer and you’ll be more buoyant. We’ll be swimming in some iconic locations, wearing a wetsuit may mean that you can enjoy the swim for a little longer than you are used to. However we understand that it’s not for everyone, therefore wetsuits are always optional.

Is there a tow float policy?

When we swim on a journey, we do require all swimmers to wear tow floats. However they are also compulsory for dips in depth. This helps us manage the group and be super visible which in turn improves safety.

How do you manage safety?

All of our Guides are beach lifeguards and first aiders, all of our swim locations are carefully reccied, risk assessed and led by guides who are experienced in that location.

Are there any ability requirements?

Our swim retreats are ideally suited for complete beginners who want to try wild swimming, they are also carefully planned so as improvers and intermediate swimmers are challenged. So, come along for a float around, or complete along and swim up to 2km per day. We’ll have at least one swim coach on each of our trips.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to spend hundreds on specialist kit to come on a Wild Swimming Retreat, but you will need a tow float (which you can buy when you’re here!), a towel or robe and footwear that you can wear in the water. We can talk through all the posh bits and pieces on the market when you’re with us.

Do you track distances, times and temperatures?

We try not to get too hung up on times, distances and temperatures. We are just having a wonderful time in iconic places with great people. However if improving is your plan, we can help you swim up to 2km per day. We’ll also have a swim coach on every trip.
